Syrian leader announces truce with SDF
The agreement, published by a Syrian news agency, calls for an immediate and full ceasefire across all fronts and contact lines between government forces and the SDF. It also requires the withdrawal of all SDF-affiliated military units to areas east of the Euphrates River as a preparatory step for redeployment.
Under the terms of the deal, the provinces of Deir ez-Zor and Raqqa will be handed over entirely to the Syrian government, both administratively and militarily. This includes the transfer of all civilian institutions and facilities within the two provinces.
Current employees in Deir ez-Zor and Raqqa will remain formally within the relevant state ministries, and the government will refrain from punitive measures against SDF personnel or members of the civil administration, as stated by reports.
The agreement further stipulates that all civilian institutions in Hasakah province will be integrated into Syrian state structures and administrative frameworks.
As part of the deal, the Syrian government will take control of all border crossings and oil and gas fields in the region, which will be secured by state forces to ensure revenues are directed to the government, according to the news agency.
