France Reaffirms Support for Syria’s Territorial Unity
The Foreign Ministry issued a statement Monday declaring that France "remains true to its allies and its positions," while underlining its unwavering support for Syria's unity and territorial integrity.
Paris expressed approval for the January 18 agreement, urging all involved parties to honor its terms.
The pact "should allow progress towards a crucial moment for the unity of the new Syria: the integration of the Syrian Democratic Forces," the ministry stated.
"France remains fully committed, as it has always been, to supporting this process and thus working towards the success of the transition to a united and stable Syria, enriched by the diversity of all its constituent parts," the statement said.
The diplomatic developments follow a Syrian government military campaign initiated last week that reclaimed territory in the nation's eastern and northeastern regions. The offensive came after the Syrian Democratic Forces repeatedly breached earlier agreements.
President Sharaa announced Sunday that a comprehensive ceasefire and integration framework had been finalized with the SDF, requiring all of the group's armed units to relocate eastward across the Euphrates River.
The accord represents a significant step toward consolidating control over Syrian territory as the country navigates its ongoing political transition.
